Reference —  Frit (Fritt)
A glaze material that is formed when any of several soluble materials are melted together with insoluble materials, cooled rapidly, and splintered in cold water, then ground into a powder. This renders them less soluble and less likely to release toxic materials. Feldspar is a natural frit.
